I AM GOD'S MAN
Brindavan ashram, 27.6.2001

We all near Sri Radha's confidential and intimate sakhi and the atmosphere was permeated with rasa. Nanna spoke about how the thoughtless mind can be obtained by meditating on the all pervading Mother. Bhanuprasad garu (a devotee) asked Nanna his doubts.

" Silence is a thoughtless stage. I will give a simple example. Originally your mind was perfect. That's why Vedas said 'Mana yeva manushyanam karanam bandha mokshayoh'. By which kind of mind can man attain liberation? "

'Nanna, does it mean that man had such capacity originally?'

" Our original mind is a perfect mind. It came into contact with this worldly nature. Then we became attached to the aspects of sound, touch, form, taste and smell which are related to this world. When we develop attachment towards something, it forms an impression on our mind. There are many such impressions formed over several births. The mind is full of worldly impressions. They are the obstacles in your way to reach the Divine. "

'Is it the duty of man to remove them one by one?'

" Instead of removing one by one, they will disappear totally in a few years by constantly being in the thought of the all pervading. Actually there is no thought in the all pervading. You will experience this yourself. This is a thoughtless state. Once you are in the thoughtless state, all impressions will disappear. "

Nanna highlighted the power that is attained with the thoughtless mind:

" ..I am here, in India. Something should go from here to America and touch..That power is possible only when thoughtless mind is present. That is what it means. "

Nanna explained how he cured an engineer who met with an accident in America from here.

'How is this possible for everybody? You could do it because you are exceptional.'

" Everybody can do it. You sit for five years in dhyana. I will give you guarantee. As these impressions fade away, there will be a change in your mind. You would not like to be in the midst of society. The thought that you want to be away from this world will surface from within you. "

" Your craze for society will disappear. That's why great sages are not found in the midst of society. I converted this room into a forest. I don't move from here. It is 3-4 months since we arrived here. So far I have not seen the gate. Believe me; I don't even know how the gate looks like. The people come to me. Dalmia, one of the famous personalities and the third richest man in India came to me. He asked 'Do you want anything from me?' I replied 'I want nothing from you except that you listen to my words about Mother. Mother knows whatever I want and She provides me everything. Who are you to give me? I will not ask anybody. "

'Will Mother provide everybody like this?'

" Yes, She will. "

'When will that state be attained? Everybody may not get that state?'

" If the thoughtless mind is present, Mother's grace will surely come. If you pass the exam, you will get a job. Once a person named Ramesh Babu came from America. I did not know him. He met me and heard me. Then he took out his cheque book and signed and cheque for 1000 dollars, almost Rs 46000. He did not come back again. Now tell me, who gave that money? "

'Mother gave him that inspiration.'

" That is exactly what I want to highlight. That is how I am getting all the money. "

'I am also saying the same thing. It is not a doing process but a being done process. It is being done by Mother.'

" You can actually see this. Stay with me for ten days. I will get millions of rupees. That is God's formula. That's how the sages live. The sages never ask for anything. Somebody approaches them and offers them something. That's all. "

'Actually that is God's way..'

" Yes. That is exactly my point. God will never beg anybody. If anyone who belongs to a temple begs in the name of God, it means that he knows nothing about God. Everybody cannot understand this. It can be comprehended only by those who have that intrinsic culture. You are a cultured man. That's why Mother brought you here; otherwise She would not have brought you. "

" An intellectual, a philosopher who narrates Bhagawata very well came to see me from Kolkatta. He was accompanied by 25 disciples. They came to this very ashram. I agreed to their desire to do sankeertan here. They chanted Mother's name for sometime and went back to their ashram. While they were doing bhajan there, one of the disciples, a Yogini became unconscious. A voice spoke from within her 'Radhasakhi is present in the house from where you came. You left that place without paying your respects to her. Buy a saree, offer it near her feet and bow down before her. 'He came back here with a saree and said 'Nanna, we understand that there is a Radhasakhi here. Who is that sakhi?' We said that we are not aware of that and told him to offer the saree to Mother. That saree is with us till today. I can show it to you. Now, did I ask that man to come to me? "

'Normally the influence of the guru who we meet will be there to some extent...'

" No, we don't want any gurus. We have no gurus. Salute them from a distance and stay away from them. There is only one guru and She is Radha who never talks, who never...She gives bhava and carries out Her task. Once you have that bhava, you are the guru. There are no words. How can one who depends on speech be a guru? Mine is only bhava. See how this construction work in our ashram is progressing? He (Sesha Reddy garu).is organizing the work costing so much. That is the thought given to him by Mother. "

'That means we must go to a state beyond words and sound.'

" Quite right. One more point. Mother gives you the strength to act. When I was the District Education Officer (DEO), I had about 2000 subordinates. I never even wore socks on my own. That was my luxury! When I was in that state, a little girl came to me one day and asked authoritatively, 'When will you come to my service?' She was wearing the 'chandrika' on her forehead - the typical jewel worn only by Mother. When I saw that the girl in my vision wore the chandrika, I understood that Mother came. I said 'I belong to You from this very moment. I don't want this job anymore' But She was not there. She already left. Within half an hour, I informed my family members that I was quitting the job and leaving the place. They could accompany me if they wished. Lord Buddha renounced everything and left alone without any responsibilities. Chaitanya Mahaprabhu also left the world alone. But I had the responsibility of so many people who depended on me. I never considered that as a burden. About eight people accompanied me that day. "

" Mother did not tell me where to go or what to do. She simply said 'Come into my service' and left. From then onwards, She transformed me only with bhava. This is my life. Since that day, I never ask anybody for any thing. They will give me on their own. How do they give the money? By Mother's inspiration! So we must never ask Her. See the construction work in the ashram. Is it possible for us to take up so much of work? "

" Three days back, the General Manager in Railways department came along with his wife to see me. They sat here for some time. He asked me some questions and I replied to them. He was fully satisfied. While leaving he asked whether we need any help from railway department. I said we need two favors. The duration of halt at Mathura station may be increased from 3 minutes to 5 minutes. A halt at Mathura station for Delhi-Hyderabad AP Express may be introduced. He promised to do both and left. It was Mother who brought the high rank official to this place. But I did not ask him for anything. It was he who volunteered to help us. So nothing is impossible. There is no need to beg anybody. I never move from this chair for anybody, whoever it may be. They sit on the floor. Not because I am great but because I am God's man. God's power, tejas is always with me. Why should I get up because they came? They will come to see me. "

What a lesson! This teaching infuses self confidence and self respect in us. Nanna never asked anyone for anything. But he accepted with open arms, whatever we offered with love and used it for Mother's cause. Nanna often said that there can't be a more demeaning task than asking for money in the name of temple or God.

'I am God's man. This sentence is a testimony of his love and mercy towards mankind. Nanna, resplendent with divine power and love and constantly immersed in the bliss of dhyana came down from his apex position and is drawing us closer to him. He answers all our questions, clarifies all our doubts and directs us towards Mother all the time. He said 'there are no great sages here. I converted this room into a forest.' All sages and mahatmas went far from the people, to the forest for penance. But Nanna, the sage of sages; mahatma of mahatmas stayed amidst people, dealt with all kinds of people, supported them and helped them lovingly and mercifully. Yet all the time, within his inner self, he was associated only with Mother. Thus he showed the world how a God's man would be. He taught us that we must live like Mother's children.

" Mine is not an ordinary life. She will take me back one day. It is Her will. I asked when She would take me from here. She said that there are many tasks to be accomplished. Till they are completed, She cannot take me'. (Pointing to the building constructed recently) At that time, this was not there. She entrusted these works to me later. Once this is over, I wonder what She will do! "

'She must give you a lot. Otherwise how can you guide the future generations?'

" Mother will see the future generations. I won't die. I will not die nor will I be alive. It is neither of the two. "

" I give the mantra to a suffering person. He will be totally relieved. "

Nanna, is it possible for us to know even a little of what you actually are! 'I won't die. I will not die nor will I be alive'. You are immortal. We are bound by karma and are trapped in the cycle of life and death. Where are you and where are we! We have been to reach your holy feet by your grace only and not by any penance we did. This is very clear to us. You are granting us the fortune of being in the presence of Sri Radha who will free us from all our karmas even without asking. What more can we ask you? What is our capacity?

" Whatever you see with your eyes; whatever you feel with the sense organs - all will perish one day. All words will perish. You must understand this. "

'Sant Gyaneshwarji says that we must spend our time, energy and wealth.'

" Why does the guru need money? "

'Money is needed to accomplish God's work; to propagate about God and to maintain ashram. He wants me t be there full time.'

" Why should you join there full time? "

'Guru says to do service.'

" What service can you do to the all pervading? The all pervading has no name or form. What is the service that you can do? "

'Guru says that knowledge means understanding God's tattwa.'

" What is God's tattwa? What is knowledge? Let your guru explain both of them to me. "

'It means understanding God.'

" What do you gain by understanding? Will you lose attachment towards the world? "

'We cannot lose attachment only by understanding. Many people are not able to give up that attachment. I did not understand this. I did not take deeksha (initiation). Even those who took deeksha are unable to withstand. This means that simply understanding the tattwa is not enough.'

" That is the real secret. Nothing remains in your heart. Whether you are near or away, it is the same. When will you weep for money? You will think of money only when you are attracted towards some monetary object. If I don't have that attraction, then what do I need? I have neither attachment nor detachment. "

'Does being neither attached nor detached signify stillness?'

" That is the very sign. Arjuna asked Krishna 'You explained the tattwa and I listened to you. Now please tell me in one word, whether I should fight the battle or not.' Krishna replied 'Yathecchasi tatha kuru'. Do as you wish. That means Krishna is not concerned with what Arjuna does. He had no attachment towards the world, so he did not tell him what to do whereas Arjuna had that attachment. Krishna explained the tattwa and told Arjuna to take his own decision. "

(Looking at the portrait of Sri Radha in the ashram)

'You say there is no form..'

" There is no form; only bhava roopa "

'In this portrait, did you give Radhaji the bhava roopa?'

" Bhava roopa! She is Mahabhava swaroopa. Bhava has no form. It is not like prakriti. "

'If there is no form, why should you have a portrait before you?'

" This is form. It is not right; She does not have such form. You have fondled and kissed a little boy. You felt love for him. That love is bhava. "

'That is true. But photos.'

" This is not for us. It is for others. As for me ..I don't pray. "

'You are different. Everybody will wonder that Nanna garu says there is no form, yet they keep photos.'

" (Laughing) If you come near me, I will take a class on that subject "

'Is it because people are looking for form, you are attracting them with the form?'

" So yagnopaveetham is needed at the beginning. Later it must be removed. Is this more than that? When man is removing his sacred thread, is the form so great? "

" Nobody is worshipping God. There is not a single person who is worshipping God. If he really worships, he must worship the all pervading because God id all pervading. There is nobody who does that. "

" Archana, sankeertana, dhyana (prayers, chanting Mother's name and meditation); these three should always take place in this ashram. By this dhyana, Mother will certainly come. By sankeertan, She will dance here. By archana, She will move among us. "

Nanna reclined in his chair in sakhi bhava. Many people raised the same question. While speaking of nameless and formless tattwa of God, how is Nanna permitting photos, idols and prayers? It is true that God is all pervading, nameless and formless. It is not possible for 99% of the people to close their eyes and meditate on the nameless and formless tattwa. Yet so many people came to Nanna in pursuit of this truth. So it is Nanna's practice to offer the form to them as a support for meditation. Gradually, he takes them to the formless meditation. The God's form used for initial meditation should not be an ordinary one! The bhava roopa always worshipped by Sri Krishna is the rasa tattwa which appeared to Nanna in his dhyana as a three year old divine girl. He got a portrait of that delicate, beautiful young form (Kishori). He told everyone to fill their heart with this 'Chinnari' (the little one) in the portrait and meditate on the tattwa of love and rasa. This rasa tattwa is Radha who is worshipped by Krishna. Nanna said that as you gradually progress towards higher meditation, name and form will disappear. You will experience that only the all pervading; infinite radiance of rasa permeates everywhere and fills everything.

On 21.7.2001, Nanna was listening to the 8th volume of 'Brindavaneswari Sri Radhadevi.'

" When we describe something, the reader should visualize it. Forget about science. If you say that Harischandra wept (though long ago), he will also weep as he reads about it. That is true depiction of history. It will be very powerful if you write in this way, particularly for those who are in a state of bhava. Let anyone think anything. We will say that it is happening even today. It has more value if you say it is happening today also. It is true because mine is almost a state of bhava. "

'The Rasanikunjeswari, the Swamini, Sri Radhadevi sees Krishna and smiles appreciatively...'

" Very nice; now that image is formed before our eyes. "

'In that beautiful time of rasa festival, Krishna smiled and handed over the veena (a stringed musical instrument) to Sri Kishori and asked Her to provide rasa of music.'

" You must include some exclamatory remarks to indicate movement in the scene. Ah, what beauty! In other words, you must create the picture before the reader's eyes. In one drama (Anthony and Cleopatra), the eyes and expressions of the character of a wicked man were so beautifully described. The story happened long ago but the same was brought to the present. I played the role of Cleopatra. If something happened long ago, it has no value. People felt as if it was happening before their eyes and wept. Cleopatra cries out 'Anthony' and collapses. How can you present this? Just by saying 'she fell down.'? How do you do it on stage? "

'Nanna, that is a stage play. Since you perform, you can show expressions and actions. But in writing..'

" We will do it. This will come on stage some day in future. Rasa will be played. If there is a poet who can write, Mother will make him create any number of works! That's why I specially arranged Rasa. I will train them by spending Rs 1000 per month. If I tell Sriram and party, they will come immediately and provide excellent music. "

" Rasa means style! You must show something that happened long ago as if it is happening now. Whatever we are writing now will become Rasa tomorrow. If we find a suitable person, I will get it written in Rasa style. "

Normally Nanna prefers conversational style of writing. During those days when I would write and read out the descriptive incidents, he would laugh. He said that 'if you write in the conversational style instead of narrative style, it will touch the heart of the reader.' He personally dictated the conversations between Shyamanadji and Radha which were filled with rasa. Ah what an incident! He also told how the conversation between Radhaji and Her sakhi should be. Gradually, with his grace, I could imbibe a little of that style.

Nanna said that in future all these volumes will be enacted in Rasa. Mother will certainly make Her sakhi's words come true.

" Such a Mother is not present anywhere else on earth. There is proof for that. The people in Brindavan bathe Mother with salt water from the well which her father King Vrishabhanu got dug for his daughter. Everybody felt 'Why should Mother bear this salt water. We shall bathe Her with cow's milk and Ganges water.' They made a proposal on these lines. I also signed the document prepared by them. That same night mother appeared in a vision and said 'Let the water be salty or venomous. I want that salt water only. The well was dug specially for me by my father.' This is enough. Now we must understand the style. The well was dug long ago. This incident happened two months back. The love for Her father is present in Her mind even now. The love in Vraj is not worldly love. "

Nanna listened to the little Radha's leela written by Vamsi Aliji.

'.There is one stage. As you go towards higher plane... '

'Is that stage beyond time, space and causation?', Sekhar asked

" Yes, there is no time there. It is always in present tense. It happens each day. Mother's leelas continue there even now. It is not as if the leela took place long ago. It is always going on. Now, dhyana takes place here and archana and sankeertan take place there. I read that Mother is present wherever these three are present. Unless the three are present, Mother will not be there. That is why I made these arrangements. Mother sent him here only to fulfill my wish. How many lakhs have accumulated so far? She is showing a great leela! Does Mother belong to then or now? Mother who was born 5000 years ago is playing even today. Is it present tense or past tense? "

'Present continuous.'

" That is the significance. It is 5000 years since She descended on earth. She is continuing Her leelas till now. There is no time in that dham. If there is time, then past and present will come into the picture. There is no time. You are saying continuous. It is always present there. "

" 'All distance is here. All time is now'. What does this mean? In that world, it is always present tense. Mother should be expressed in that way only. These books will become Rasa one day. "

Sriranga (a devotee) talked to Nanna on phone.

" Radhe Radhe . I was thinking of you since morning. There is no other service like yours. Your seva is like heavenly nectar. "

Overcome by bhava, Nanna could not continue. He handed the phone to me. 'Nanna said that there is no seva like yours and went into bhava. He says that your seva is like divine nectar. He knows everything. We need not tell him anything. He sees everything within him' 'Nanna she says that we cannot see you on your birthday and seek your blessings.'

" You are near me and I am sitting near you. "

She is blessed. Her service pleased Nanna. Though she never tells what she is doing, the omni present Nanna knows everything. She gave many photos of Sri Radha, Nanna and Nanna's holy feet to so many devotees. She even framed photos for some devotees. While giving photos to new devotees, she would first tell them about Radhaji and Nanna. I saw Nanna's photo in many shops in Guntur. That is why he said 'your seva is like heavenly nectar.'

Nanna continued about timelessness in Her kingdom.

" She is born 5000 years ago. She must grow old. She is 'nityanutana' (always new) and 'Kishori' (the young one). So there is no time there. Vivekananda told the absolute truth. 'All time is now. All distance is here'. "

" On Ekadashi day, Mother dropped a betel leaf in Hitacharya's hands. So you must understand that there is no count of time there. "

'Why did She drop it on Ekadasi day?'

" There will always be two or three connotations to whatever She does. She is saying why you are attaching importance to particular days. Is only one day auspicious and all other time bad? Did God create only Ekadasi? Did he not create other days too? "

" Pramod Kumar Chattopadhyaya also saw Champakalathadevi. That is how everyone came to know about Rehman through him. Now the question is how she took Rehman there? Did she take him in the physical form? But this body belongs to nature. We must transform from this attain bhava deha. We can't gain entry to that world unless we attain bhava deha. He has no place there. His body is undergoing the change. Once this body is lost, nobody can narrate anything. "

'Nanna, Rehman melted a lot.'

" It is Mother's leela. "

'Nanna, Shyamanada's body was not traced. Does it mean that he was taken along with the body? His body was not found in the kund. So it implies that She took him with the body.'

" We do not know. She changed this body into bhava deha. His body melted and bhava deha remained. That cannot be seen. It must be understood. This body cannot exist there, so it melted. Later he went there without this body and immediately attained bhava deha. There is no gap between losing this body and attaining bhava deha. Like the caterpillar...The caterpillar exists externally and butterfly forms within. The caterpillar is shed and butterfly appears. Something like that happened. That's what I feel. "

" This cannot be seen. Bhava deha must be attained. They say he disappeared. Disappearing means the body melted. In its place, bhava deha is formed. The bhava deha is not visible to our eyes. Mother does something like this. This death and suffering will not be there for me. Can Mother see me suffering? She will do something. "

" As I am present now, something is forming within me. Generally a child is formed in the mother's womb. Once all the organs are developed, he will come into the world. Such a thing does not happen for sakhis. The fetus, limbs developing..nothing. There is something else in that world. She is taking us near Her to that world from here. This body will be dead here and awakens there. I feel there will be no relationship between this and that. "

Nanna always said that we can go to Her bhava loka only with bhava deha. Rehman and Shyamanandaji's bodies were not found. Nanna explained that probably the physical body will melt and bhava deha will form. To make it more explicit, he gave the example of caterpillar transforming into butterfly. Once butterfly is formed, the caterpillar does not exist. When such a wonder can take place in this ordinary world, then what great wonders can happen in Sri Radha's world of rasa? So Nanna feels that Rehman and Shyamanandaji's bodies melted and their bhava dehas were formed simultaneously.

Nanna said 'This death and suffering will not be there for me. Can Mother see me suffering?' Nanna is the confidential sakhi of Radhaji. Can such a sakhi suffer the pain of death? Impossible. Once he said:

" What is death? I will close my eyes and sleep. By the time I open my eyes, I will be near Mother. That's all "

No wonder Nanna who proclaimed 'I am God's man' said 'Can She see my suffering?'

Ages ago, Lord Hanuman said 'Sri Rama cannot live without me.' Today Radhasakhi says 'Can Mother see my suffering?' Ah!

Dekhat bhavat ras mein suni nagar

The life of the sakhi who is seeing and contemplating on rasa tattwa; who is immersed in rasa and attained bhava roopa is indeed blessed.
