Nanna told us in detail about how Radhaji sent Her flute to this world because Krishna adopted the path of punishment while She followed the path of love.
"
Mother creates yearning for Her through the pain of separation from Her.
"
'Does Mother only create this pain of separation?'
"
Yes. Without this, the human being cannot move to the higher planes. Unless he bears that pain, he cannot bear this pain. Understood?
"
'No Nanna.'
"
Here, you are among relatives and friends. You are unable to leave them. One who experiences the pain of separation from Mother will not feel sad about leaving these people. Then he is not bothered about the world. It does not matter to him even if the whole world burns down to ashes. He has no attachment towards relatives or friends. All these attachments will slowly fade away. You must attain that state.
"
While writing the 8th volume of Brindavaneswari Sri RadhaDevi, Nanna said that 'we must include one full chapter on the topic of Radhaji's path of love.'
"
We may not write specifically about 'Chakramarg' and 'Venumarg' as they are already covered in detail in the 3rd and 4th volumes. Since this is the final volume, we can include about Hitacharya and Naravahana.
"
"
We must conclude that Mother with us only. There is literally no end for Her. Hitaharivamsaji wrote in his famous book 'Hitachaurasi' how Naravahana transformed from a dacoit into a saint. In fact, he even dedicated two of the verses from this book to Naravahana. So far, nobody dedicated even a line of their works to their disciples. Not even Tyagaraja or Tulasidas! Then why did Hitaharivamsaji dedicate his verses to that unworthy person? Naravahana attained the purity to accept those verses. This fact must be conveyed to the reader. Every point must be presented in such a way that the reader will appreciate it. We must also mention about Vithaldasji.
"
"
King Kulachandra preferred to give up his kingdom rather than see cow slaughter. He knows that Mother does not like cow slaughter. This is the important point to be highlighted. Some points may be repeated,. Eating alone will not provide energy; digestion is required. Then only the blood would absorb and energy is obtained.
"
'Nanna, what did you mean about eating, digestion and energy?'
"
That is precisely our subject now. Suppose you listen to some religious lectures but could not assimilate it; then what is the use? If you really know about Mother, you cannot live! So it is of no use if you simply read the book unless you know about Mother.
"
Nanna wanted us repeat the stories of Naravahana, Vithaldasji, Kulachandra in the 8th volume. When we mentioned that they were covered in the previous volumes, he said 'Mother will remain with us. There will be no end for Her.' He added that not only eating but digestion of food id necessary to produce energy in the body. That means repeatedly listening and reading will make more impact. On another occasion when we asked him why to repeat the story he said 'everybody may not read all the books. If we precisely mention the important points of all the volumes in the final book, the reader will benefit. Nanna desired that every reader must know about the divine life history of the rasika mahatmas who worshipped only Radhaji. Probably, if we read the same story again and again, the bhava may touch us sometime. This is what assimilating the content of the books means!
"
We must mention the incident when we forgot Mother's portrait in Mathura station. 'There is nothing without Mother. He will die.' Whatever you read, it is only this point that will provide energy. Only knowledge of philosophy is of no use; you must assimilate that knowledge.
"
Once when Nanna and the devotees got down the train at Mathura station, they forgot Mother's portrait in the station and proceeded to Brindavan ashram. In the evening, when it was time to offer milk to Chinnari, they realized their mistake. Nanna said 'this is not merely Her portrait; it is Mother Herself. I will not drink a drop of water till She is found'. Saying so, Nanna sat down in dhyana. Recollecting that incident now he said 'there is nothing without Mother; he will die' as if he is talking about a third person. The devotees rushed to Mathura station and brought Chinnari back to the ashram. Till then Nanna did not touch food or water. He referred to this incident when he said 'whatever you read; only this point provides energy'. That means he is telling us that knowledge of philosophy can be assimilated only by reading and understanding such salient incidents from the life of rasika mahatmas who surrendered their life to Mother.
"
Kulachandra is one of those who truly assimilated the knowledge of philosophy. His life was not important for him. Though he was a valiant warrior, he gave up his kingdom and raised his hands in defeat only because he did not want the cows to be slaughtered (as threatened by the enemy). That is the peak of his love and devotion towards Mother.
"
"
One person gave a discourse on Bhagawata. When he completed, he began to weep and got down the stage. When the organizers offered him money for his talk, he refused saying 'I did not speak about God's tattwa for money. My duty is to propagate Her tattwa.' Man came to this world only to understand Her tattwa and spread it around him. He must fulfill two purposes in his life - understand the tattwa and propagate it to others. If he does not do this, there is no difference between the life of man and a buffalo! Man should never forget the two purposes for which he came to this earth. The rest is created by Maya. His family and wealth are not dharmas. On the contrary, they are adharmas. This aspect must be projected in the book.
"
Only Nanna has the authority to make such a statement. He understood Her tattwa and is propagating it too! Though he referred to the person who spoke about Bhagawata, Nanna put himself in that person's place when he said 'I did not speak about God's tattwa for money. My duty is to propagate Her tattwa.' We saw Nanna refusing Rs 10000 from one person. We also saw him stretching out his hand and accepting even Rs 5. So, he is not interested in money; he wants people who yearn for Mother.
Speaking about dharma and adharma, Nanna said:
"
Take the instance of Rehman, the young devotee. His dharma was not to remain near his parents and look after them when he attained Her grace. Pramod Kumar Chattopadhyaya, who was near Rehman at that time said, 'I am near a yogi. I read about yogis but did not absorb anything. My life is useless'. Everybody who reads about such incidents will certainly attain that bhava. If one person feels so, everybody who reads about this will also feel the same.
"
"
Vijayakrishna Goswami, the devotee of Chaitanya said 'there are no gurus' and broke the guru's seat into pieces. He was of the firm belief that 'Who is my Guru? My guru is within me'. Ah! How great that devotion is!
"
"
Nobody in this world really belongs to you. You must never think that someone or something is yours. The divine seat of the guru belonged to the adwaita leader who descended to earth along with Sri Chaitanya. The head of that divine seat made the statement that there is no guru! So a guru is not the one who simply teaches. He must ensure that the disciple understood what he taught. He must support his disciple till such a time.
"
"
Before killing Ravana, Rama prayed, 'I have no hatred towards you. I am not keen to kill you. You committed a sin. You brought the Goddess with you. If you admit your mistake, I will take her back with me without any fight. I will not raise my bow and arrow to kill you.
"
'Nanna, how is this incident connected to the present topic?'
"
It certainly is! Man came to this earth for a specific purpose. He forgot that purpose and is living aimlessly. That is his main deficiency. That is why he is committing sins. Rama told Ravana 'you have a purpose of your life. I am reminding you about it. Realise your mistake and stop this war.'
"
"
We don't need false gurus. Vijaya Krishna Goswami publicly broke the official seat of the guru to pieces.
"
'Nanna, it may be possible for some mahatmas like him, but can everyone think that there is no guru?'
"
You also must learn to think like that . It is a mistake to consider anybody as your guru.
"
'Then why is the position of a guru so important?'
"
Due to ignorance. You can have a guru and that guru is God. That's the point I am stressing. I am not against a guru but remember that God is your guru. Bhagawad Gita is your guru. The Vedas is your guru. The false gurus on earth cannot be your guru. This guru can only give you mantra but cannot uplift your life.
"
Nanna made such intense remarks on guru tattwa. We have seen so many false gurus in this world. Nanna came to the rescue of so many ignorant people like me who could not realize who a real guru is. Radhaji is the guru of Sri Krishna who is the guru of the worlds. Radhasakhi, Her partner in rasa came to this earth as Nanna. We could not realize this truth even when we were in his presence. On the contrary, we blindly accepted any person who spoke about God as our guru and took mantra from him. That is how powerful karma is! Rasaguru Nanna said that it is a mistake to even consider such a person as our guru. He can only give mantra but cannot reform our life.
'Nanna, Ramakrishna Paramahamsa said that when a real guru gives mantra, he infuses some power along with the letters of the mantra.'
"
That is not right. One day a person came near him and said 'when I told my Mother that I am coming here to listen to your preaching she beat me severely.' He showed the scars on his body. Then Paramahamsa said, 'my son, hereafter don't wear an ordinary shirt. Wear a leather jacket.' What does this mean?
"
'You must bear her beating. The jacket will protect you to some extent..'
"
It means we cannot do anything; he must face the beatings.
"
'Then there is no mantra..'
"
Mantra itself is wrong. It will not uplift you. You are bringing God down by this mantra. Mantra is one of the ten hurdles....
"
'Nanna, how will the reader understand...'
'Mantra will be present only in the initial stages. It will disappear gradually.', Anjani amma added.
'Nanna, can a person who is doing a job to feed himself explain to others who really want to attain the knowledge of philosophy? Such things cannot be understood by simply reading books.'
"
Then what can be done?
"
'Nanna, suppose we say there is no guru, others may say 'God is praying to a guru and showing us that path. Rama and Krishna served their gurus. Then why are you saying so?'
"
Krishna was not the only disciple of Sandeepa. Many disciples accepted him as their guru.
"
'Others are different; Krishna is different.'
"
But guru is only one! It is important to know what a guru does. Krishna did not become so great because of his guru.
"
'Nanna. Are you implying that if a guru can make all his disciples as great persons, all of them should be like Krishna. But it is not so?'
"
What did the guru do for them?
"
'Nanna, it is difficult to tell.'
"
Don't bother about the world. Think only about yourself. You did not come here for the welfare of the world. You came here to reform and uplift yourself. That should be your focus.
"
In his words, I could feel the bad times I went through before I came near Nanna.
'Nanna, when we write anything in a book, it touches so many readers.'
"
That is not enough. A person is not uplifted just by reading your book. Vijayakrishna Goswami is not a fool. He is a great person; a devotee of Chaitanya. You must read about him.
"
"
Raghunatha Goswami put forth his point in a more straight forward way. The other Goswamis invited him for the inauguration ceremony of Govinda mandir. They specifically added that this invitation was from their guru, Chaitanya. He refused to accept their invitation. When they commented how he could refuse their guru's invitation he remarked 'who is my guru? Radhakund is everything for me. It may be a pond for you but it is Mother Herself for me. The one who saw Radhakund as a pond did not move up; the one who saw the pond as Mother went to higher planes.' How many people could move up like him? That's why he said 'I cannot stay away from Mother for a long time. So I will not attend your ceremony.' Finally, he reached the upper worlds.
"
'Nanna, is Goddess Durga Devi your guru now?', Babu asked.
"
No, She only gave me deeksha.
"
'Is she not a guru if she has given deeksha?'
"
No. one who gives deeksha is only a deeksha guru; not a satguru.
"
'Then who is your guru?'
"
Mother.
"
'Who is Mother?'
"
Mother is Mother. That's all.
"
Our greatest guru is Mother only. She is the guru of even Sri Krishna who is considered as the guru of all worlds. Radhaji is our guru. She lovingly came down to this earth as a sakhi. Only a sakhi can lead the devotee towards Mother. Once Nanna said 'Realise the guru in the form of a sakhi. He will tell you what is right for you without any effort on your part. He will not leave you till you reach your destination. I will be your constant companion and your constant guide. I will be yours. I will lead you to Her holy feet.' That sakhi is our guru. Nanna assured us that 'I will do penance for you in Her dham. I will not be happy till each one of you obtains that bliss.' He granted us this boon even without our asking. Such a Nanna is our guru. The sakhi is our guru!
