Amma's Words

Sri dham, 05.06.2010, 11.45 a.m.

This is the thirteenth volume of 'Our association with Nanna' given to us by Nanna himself , who is truly the personification of love. Surprisingly, this volume is like the 13 letter mantra (in Telugu) also given to us by Nanna - Sri Radhe Jaya Radhe Jaya Jaya Radhe.

Each time he spoke about dhyana, Nanna is giving us the flow of dhyana sadhana along with his new, subtle and rasa filled bhavas. He gave us the principle of dhyana yoga - 'only Mother and me'. You must not be attached towards any other object or think about anything else. Like the girl who is attached to parents, family, relatives and friends before marriage, jeeva is also attached to worldly objects before establishing a link with God. After marriage, the girl thinks only about her husband and herself. In the same way, in dhyana yoga, there is no place for a third person except you and your deity. Nanna said that if a third thought enters your mind during dhyana, it is impure devotion. Lord Krishna pointed out in Gita that whoever 'serves him' with pure devotion will attain divinity.

Brindavan mahatmas proclaimed that Mother cannot be attained in any other way except through dhyana. Nanna's life exemplified this principle. We shall also try to do such sadhana (spiritual practice). Though we may have many experiences of rasa related to Mother in inwardness, it is important that we see Mother in every jeeva in our external life. Otherwise our sadhana in inwardness will be a play only.

A mahatma named Pahvari Baba saw Krishna in a thief. Chaitanya saw Krishna in cruel wild animals. Ramakrishna Paramahamsa envisioned Sita Devi in a prostitute. When a prostitute came and folder her hands in respects before Nanna, he addressed her as 'mother' and showed the bhava of a child. Since he was experiencing rasa with Mother inwardly, the same bhava is exhibited externally. The maternal instinct in the person before him is involuntarily awakened. Many such incidents occurred in Nanna's life.

When we reach the state of dhyana, Mother will certainly be with us only. In one of his songs, Nanna wrote that when we surrender to Her completely, She only will guide our life smoothly. She will constantly watch us and speak through us. A sadhaka who is in this state of total surrender will not be conscious of 'I'. This is a great experience in dhyana state! You can never find such an experience in the external world. It is possible only when you are with Mother in inwardness.

Nanna told us about dhyana yoga, the only path to reach Mother, in many ways in many speeches. As Her constant companion, he gave us the 13 lettered maha mantra - Mother's name ; Sri Radhe Jaya Radhe Jaya Jaya Radhe!

I bless Rasamani who is authoring the volumes of 'Nannatho - Our Association with Nanna' . May she attain the grace of Nanna and his loving blessings.
