Sri Brindavani .. ...Nikunjeswareem
|
---- |
| |
|
Sri Brindavan is the stepping stone to the kingdom of bhava. The dham has the impressions of Radhaji's feet; is filled with rasa and awakens bhava in Lord Krishna. That place is worshipped by Krishna; that is where nectar known as Radha flows. I pray in my heart to the sovereign of Nikunj to grant me permanent stay in such a Sri dham.

Nanna gave a talk in Picket mandir, secunderabad in 1993. He explained in detail about Radhaji being the Highest Deity.
|
"
'Ananyaschinthayantho mam yejanah paryupasathe
Tesham nityabhiyukthanam yogakshemam vahamyaham'
"
|
"
Lord Krishna promised to be with his devotee every moment and look after his welfare but only and only when the devotee has one pointed devotion towards him. Why did the Lord support the Pandavas and not the Kauravas? Well, the Pandavas had unstinted and one pointed devotion towards him. That's why he could not leave them!
"
|
"
Similarly, we too must have one pointed devotion towards Radhaji. Then She will never leave us. She will be with us every moment! She is benevolent and kind. The condition to reach Radhaji and move along with Her is only one pointed concentration. I will quote an incident. When a chair beside Krishna was vacant, he made a Gopika sit on the chair. The Brahmavaivartha writes that millions of Gopikas emerged from the pores on his body. Then, is a Gopika higher or is Radha higher? Can the warriors ever be greater than the King? That chair belongs only to Radhaji. Doesn't Krishna know this fact? Of course he does! Then why did he do so? His intention is to teach us through his pranks and plays! He makes a mistake, She questions him; She sulks on him; He pleads with Her and holds Her feet. That is a lesson for us. He taught us a lesson through this divine play also. When Radhaji saw from a distance that somebody else sat beside Krishna, She thought ' I will not stay here anymore. I have been insulted. So I must leave immediately. You (Krishna) must come near Me, touch My feet and aplogise. Only then I will come back.' She left to Mansarovar, on the other bank of River Yamuna. This incident is known as 'man leela'. Through this divine play, Mother revealed that one must have one pointed devotion to reach Her.

One day, a swamiji from Gowdimath visited our ashram. I showed him the Rig Veda wherein it is clearly stated that one who sets Radha aside and worships only Krishna is stupid. Whether it is Chaitanya or anybody else, it is foolishness to even say that Radha is not there. The Rig Veda, the devotees and my own experience say that only a fool worships Krishna without Radha! Everybody must be told this fact. Imagine a small hole in a car tyre. It extrudes the air and makes it unfit for use. The same happens in devotion too! This is the quality of devotion. The Rig Veda states the following mantra :
"
|
"
'Yasya Karatala .. ..moodhathamaschethi.'
"
|
"
He who worships only Krishna without Radha is a big fool. He is the most ignorant person. In ISKCON, prominence is given only to Krishna. They do not worship Radha at all. Even in their chanting - Hare Rama Hare Krishna, there is no Radha! Only Krishna! Only he who dares to defy Rig Veda would give up Radhaji. In ISKCON, Chaitanya is glorified. Jeeva Goswami is a mahatma. Roopa Goswami is greater than Sanatana Goswami. Though he is younger, the great book ' Bhakti rasamruthasindhuvu' was not begun without his signature (finger print) ! He spoke about three conditions necessary to attain one pointed devotion.
"
|
"
Brindavan is that place where Radhaji likes to play. That is why, you must live there. Radhaji is very fond of Brindavan. If you say that you will convert your house into Brindavan and recite Her name there only, it is not right. In our marriage ceremony, another girl is made to accompany the bride in the initial rituals. She can never take the place of the bride; she is only an associate, for name sake .. No wonder he insisted that the first condition is to reside in Brindavan dham, Radhaji's favourite place. Last night, a devotee mentioned that he was told that any place will be transformed into Brindavan if you chant Mother's name. Then I explained to him what Brindavan really is! There are three Brindavans - bhauma, man and bhava (terrestrial, mind and bhava). Only bhava Brindavan actually matters, nothing else. Then why did this terrestrial Brindavan gain importance ? It is only due to Her shadow. As the shadow of Bhava Brindavan falls on bhauma Brindavan, it became a holy dham. It is day time only when Sun rays fall on the earth otherwise it is darkness. Even a little sun light dispels the darkness and ushers in brightness. In the same way, wherever the shadow of bhava Brindavan falls, it is considered to be Brindavan. It is the most pious place, so never think negative about it. Though Chaitanya spoke about Brindavan, any place does not become Brindavan merely by recital of Her name. Will brass become gold just like that? Then how can our ordinary streets and villages become equal to the pious Brindavan? Can you really do such a recital of Her name to transform your place? For that matter, Chaitanya also could not transform Puri where he resided into Brindavan. In fact, he instructed his Goswamis to move to Brindavan and live there only till death. They followed his words diligently and lived in Brindavan only where their samadhis are found even today. So Chaitanya indicated clearly that Brindavan is certainly superior to Puri; his sending the Goswamis there is the proof. There is no other place comparable to Brindavan; any amount of chanting Her name can change this fact.
"
|
Bhava is above Nama (Name).
|
"
We will agree that any place filled with Radha bhava can be compared with Brindavan. Bhava is different from simply uttering Her name. Anybody can take Her name mechanically but without bhava that is of no use. One devotee in Gorakhpur enabled Radha bhava to temporarily 'touch' that place. This was accepted by the Radha devotee. What was his evidence to say so? He remained in Samadhi for many months, without food and water. He showed the world what Radha bhava means! If such Radha bhava is really present in the toilet, it is no longer a toilet, it is Brindavan. That is the power of Radha bhava. So our chanting Her name will not create Brindavan. Radhaji must move there. Only then it becomes Brindavan. When the people in the village have a darshan of Her radiance, that village is Brindavan, not otherwise.
"
|
"
Chaitanya meant that when a devotee attains Radha bhava and sings Her name, She will be pleased by that bhava and certainly come there. Then that place becomes Brindavan. He did not preach to sing Her name mechanically but with bhava. The mahatmas say that the place Brindavan is not important by itself; it became a sacred dham only because Mother played there. So you also must bring Mother to your place. She will come only when there is bhava; not by simply reciting Her name. When She comes that place becomes Brindavan. I will not agree even if Chaitanya says that your place will become Brindavan if you chant Her Name.
"
|
Nanna explained in detail that one pointed devotion is essential to attain Sri Radha's grace even for Lord Krishna otherwise She will leave him! Sri Krishna, the sachidananda, the highest God himself worships Radhaji. He who worships only Krishna and not Radha is a fool. This fact is clearly mentioned in the Vedas! Nanna also elucidated the importance of sacred Brindavan. Though Her name is great, Her bhava is greater. Unless Radha Bhava touches and She comes there, no place can become Brindavan.
|
"
Brindavan is prominent because the Duo, Radha and Krishna played there. Mother cannot be attained through Her name and rituals. In fact, it is said that even Vaikuntha (the abode of Lord Vishnu) is not equal to Brindavan. That is why, Jaya and Vijaya, the door keepers of Vaikuntha became demons - Ravana and Kumbakarna in their next birth. Should such a thing happen? If they were in Brindavan, they would remain unmoved and passive. One will not be in Brindavan today, graveyard tomorrow and elsewhere the day after. Once it's Mother's place, it remains so forever. Krishna said ' Brindavanam Parityajya padamekam na gacchathi' which Brindavan did he mean? Bhauma Brindavan has no greatness of its own. The radiance comes from bhava Brindavan. Just as your believe it is sun rise only when the sun rays fall on earth, we believe that any place is Brindavan only when Mother's grace showers and Her bhava is awakened. Her name will give you smaller results.
"
|
'Nanna, what must we do to create Brindavan?'
|
"
Mother must come
"
|
'What should we do to make Mother come?'
|
"
Radha Bhava must be attained
"
|
'How to attain Radha Bhava?'
|
"
Give up everything in the world. Think that you have nobody except Mother, surrender yourself to her totally then She will shower Her grace and grant Her darshan. If Mother has granted Her darshan somewhere in this hall, this place is Brindavan forever.
"
|
Nanna began to talk about religious rituals.
|
"
Ramakrishna Paramahamsa made Sarada Devi (his wife) on a seat naked and performed pooja (worship). It is a systematic procedure, similar to Kama Gayathri. During the worship, he was loudly weeping 'Mother Mother' and fainting. Well, it appears like desire (kama) but it is not so. You must understand this wonder. That bhava is normal; he is in a very intense state of bhava. Though they perform the ritual of worshipping the whole body, he is not in that frame of mind; there is something else in bhava. Assam has one of the biggest temples - Yoni peeth and an ashram named kamakhya. It is a huge centre where thousands of people visit. In fact, our late prime minister Smt. Indira Gandhi used to go there every year. The name implies kama roopa but not kama! It is truly a pure fire of yearning. This was exhibited by Ramakrishna, Ramaprasad, Ramananda and others. Ramakrishna was jealous of the saint Ramaprasad because Mother would reply whenever he called out to Her. He used to say ' Mother, you are not beautiful in this dress, please dress as I like.' He liked Mother to appear in knotted hair and smeared face! She appeared beautiful to him like that! Whenever he heard Ramaprasad singing about Her beauty as he visualised Her, Ramakrishna went into Samadhi. Ramaprasad also was in similar state .. That is why it is said that there is pleasure but not lust. It implies that pleasure exists in Brahmaloka and Sivaloka. Even Siva has the urge of pleasure! Bhagawata indicates that even physical intimacy exists in those worlds. In Radhaji's world, only the first aspect exists. That is why it is considered far above than Mahadeva's world. There is happiness and enjoyment but not physical intimacy because they lose deha bhava. The basic point is that he is not conscious that ' I am having this body.' there is a body but it is bhava deha; that body which is associated only with bhava and not the world; they are the actual facts. You take it from me. Bhava deha is that body which is filled with intense bhava that is beyond nature. Without his effort, he will be filled with yearning for Mother continuously; non stop. The bhava is charming every minute and new every minute. It has both newness and charm. The bhava this minute changes within the next 5 minutes. Strange and Wonderful! It happens automatically and effortlessly. The Bhagawata describes this sequence of events as : ' Atmaramascha munayaha nirgandha pyurukrame kurvanthyahethukim' - Ahetuka bhakti - devotion without a reason! What does this mean? If he has no reason, then why the devotion? How can he get such bhava? That is the wonder. Without his effort, without his volition, waves of bhava originate from within him. There is absolutely no effort. Where there is effort, there is ego. That is precisely why you cannot rise with the penance you do with your efforts. Ego is also present alongside your efforts. There is no effort without ego. It is nonsense and unscientific. How can you see the state of beauty and love with ego? Just like the base gunas, ego is also undesirable. You must give up ego. The forms of Rama and Krishna are but projections of ego; not egoless projections related to bhava. This is the difficulty in this path. You must carefully follow each and every point. There is pleasure but no lust; no physical intimacy; when there is no deha bhava, there is no room for desire. Which form can it take? He will understand only when he feels it. He must possess the divine desire in a state unconscious of deha bhava, in voluntarily and effortlessly. He must experience this divine love, divine desire, divine pleasure! There is desire where there is effort. In the transcendental state, there is no effort; no desire. It comes automatically from within. The sea does not plan and send waves; they emerge automatically. Similarly, in bhava also!
"
|
"
The next point; you have interest but not ignorance. You have the interest, the wish, the happiness..' Sat is the power from 'Samvit'. That bliss is the Hladini power. There are different planes - subtle, subtler, subtlest. It is interest associated with transcendental bliss; that too without effort. Mainly, there are two points to understand - you don't have body consciousness and there is no effort because there is no ego. Egoless state is effortless state. When there is no ego, it is not bad. The body is destroyed only due to ego. We are spoiling our body on earth by treating it with kama. The world is pure by itself. Nothing is impure. In your ego state, you are disturbing the purity. You are seeing everything with some expectation. The only sadhana in the rasa world is to decrease your ego and put Mother in ego's place. Mother is your ego. She will give you ideas. That effort is all Her's and not yours. Your life will move effortlessly. All the words spoken by you in that state will become true. That is such a high plane! Even if you disturb them ..
"
|
"
Remember always that bhava loka is the highest. There is nothing except bhava. That bhava which is not related to conscious. The bhava remains with us continuously and we will weep for Mother. We may weep for Her a lot yet She will neither physically come before us nor move away from us! Still without your effort, you will be weeping for Her! You will commit suicide for Her! Ramakrishna Paramahamsa attempted suicide for Her. He tried to end his life because Mother was not there .
"
|
' Nanna, there Is yearning of separation but actually there is no separation. Radha and Krishna are not away from each other ...'
|
"
Only in bhava . Don't say that they are not away from one another. There is yearning of separation in bhava. There is no tangible object to move away (because it is bhava!), so there is no sanyasa here!
"
|
Nanna clearly defined Brindavan. A place can become Brindavan only when Radhaji wanders there; to woo her, Radha Bhava is a must; if Radha bhava must awaken, one must give up everything and totally surrender to Her. Then She will grant Her grace and give darshan. He categorically stated that there is no other way.
|
During his divine discourses delivered in RadhaKrishna Mandir (Picket), Nanna clarified some doubts raised by devotees regarding religious rituals. Giving full information about the rituals, he hinted the dangers involved in that path. Except mahatmas with self control, others should not do such prayers; it may become harmful to them. He cautioned to choose your path carefully. Speaking about Radhaji's path, he effortlessly went into bhava kingdom. Mahatmas like Ramakrihsna paramahamsa and Ramaprasadji prays to Mother in this way. Their worship was effortless in a divine state without deha bhava; in a bhava state beyond prakrithi. ' Unless your experience that divine love, you cannot understand.'
|
He also explained the sadhana related to rasa world. 'Put Mother in your ego's place. That only is sadhana. Mother is your ego. Without formlessness, you will not lose body consciousness and maya. Unless this happens, there is no spiritual progress.'
|
"
I feel like weeping effortlessly. I shut myself inside and close the doors. I openly ask the public to come and .. He will not accept that he will weep with body consciousness. Without formlessness, you will not lose body consciousness and maya. Unless this happens, there is no spiritual progress for centuries. It is scientific and logical. I lost body consciousness. It is not enough to count the number of times you chanted Her name! Gradually I thought ' Let Mother choose and send to me.' I got revelation when I read a great article written by mahatma. He wrote that Krishna's duty is to bring the wandering people to the right path. What is the right path? He brings them to Brindavan. That is his duty. An incident actually happened. He brought an old man who was on his way to Badrinath to Brindavan. An eight year old girl was serving porridge. She gave him a vessel and served him porridge. Krishna brings the person to Brindavan and Radha provides Rasa!
"
|
"
Let me tell you the leela of Manmatha. He told Krishna ' I defeated Brahma and Siva. Only you are left. I decided to defeat you. I will induce desire in you. Do you agree? 'Why do you want to instill desire in me. Several thousands of young ladies will join rasa festival. If you can infuse any other bhava in them, I shall accept defeat.' Manmatha considered this is a good chance. Krishna worshipped Radha. He bows before Radha. ' Now Manmatha will come and touch us. I will not come under his control. But even if one lady turns around, he will win. You must save me Radha! Save me.' 'All right. You go' when Manmatha entered, her Hladini shakti was overwhelming. He became besserk, rolled on the floor, profusely weeping and beseeching Krishna 'Make me yours. I am yours.' That is how he became Madan Mohan. Radhaji made Madan love Krishna within just 5 minutes. Radhaji became MadanMohan mohini. There is another leela where in one of Her sakhis, Chandralekha attained golden colour.
"
|
"
Radha's power is invincible power. It must be shown to people. Krishna is nowhere when compared to Radha. The aspect of Hladini sakthi is seen in this leela. They publicly committed and revealed to the world. Mahatmas in Brindavan write such leelas in their books and offered themselves to Mother. Her leelas are really intoxicating. If you write ' he killed somebody and somebody else killed him', it is not a leela. We think it is a leela. But ' leela is only that which cannot be played out or enacted by any human being, even Brahma. That is real leela.
"
|
"
There is bhava deha and no sadhana at all. Even without surrendering, you will have a feeling of surrender. When you lose the form and the formlessness, you can move forward in dhyana. Radhe Radhe
