Amma's Words

Sri dham, 07.05.2010, 5.40 am

Our loving Nanna possesses many divine qualities and bhavas. His life reflected in many ways. Speaking about divine qualities, the Gita said 'Gatirbharta Prabhu Sakshi!' If we are wise enough, we can realise the essence of this verse from Gita in our Nanna. Gati means God is our means, our refuge. We have none other than Mother. Nanna exhibited this state in his life. 'Bharta' literally means husband but in this context, not one who fulfils desires related to the worldly aspects. Husband is one whose bhava is beyond dharma, wealth, desire and moksha. Nanna is like the husband who took the responsibility of showing us the path of dharma (virtuous path) and makes us reach the state of bhava beyond moksha. He is the ruler who decided to make us move on the path of dharma. The passive nature in Nanna cannot be found in anybody else. There are many incidents to prove the passive nature of Nanna under adverse conditions.

The essential state in sadhana is lack of attachment for the body. The religious scholars state that 'I am not this body, I am pure consciousnesses. The devotees in prema bhava state that 'I am Mother's eternal servant, sakhi and companion.' When Nanna was working in a forest area, a tiger came before him. Nanna was in the bhava that 'I am not this body; I am near the all pervading Mother. She is inside, outside, beyond and before; everywhere. As he was in such a bhava, the tiger left without harming him. In S.kota, Nanna saw Mother in a snake. That is why it behaved like a domestic animal. He did not see the snake's body; he saw Mother within the snake. This is a significant incident in his life. He lived with the bhava that 'I am not the body; its karma is not mine; I am the confidential sakhi living near Mother.'

In every talk, Nanna stressed that unless you give up attachment for the body, Mother will not stay with you. She will arrange everything for you without your asking for it. The greatest hurdle in reaching the Mother is the belief that you are the body. In order to reach Mother, you must give up the attachment for the body and constantly be in the bhava that 'Mother is with me; She is present everywhere.'

The twelve devotees of Para always remained in the devotion of Lord Vishnu and are known as Dwadasa Vaishnava Parabhaktas even today. This book, the 12th volume is Nanna's blessing to us so that we can surrender our ego to Mother, shed the attachment to our body and strive for oneness with Mother.

Nanna's voice was feeble in some of the cassettes containing the extracts in this volume. Rasamani put in effort to listen again and again and brought out his words in this book. I pray that Nanna's divine blessings are always with her.
