SRI GURU'S GRACE

Guntur Ashram, 20 October 1999

Nanna was deep in discussion with his devotees, patiently answering their spiritual queries.

'Till now our understanding of sadhana was different. We thought we must realize the omnipresence of God through our sadhana. But you say that sadhana begins with realizing the all pervading nature of the Divine. There was a fundamental paradox in our thinking because omnipresence and searching don't go together.'

" There is no meaning; it is absurd. Actually search for God is nonsense. Your study of Geeta, philosophical books or other spiritual literature is absurd. You are already with Mother. Then why do you want these lectures and books? "

'Nannagaru, though it is the fact, the difficulty is that we do not realize it. It is our fault. Only Guru like you will make us realize our mistake and show the right path.'

" I am always my Mother Radhaji's child. I don't want anything else. I don't want any titles. Recently a boy of Hyderabad (Sudhakar Reddy) said 'I want to spend 10 days with Nannagaru in his ashram'. Why? 'I am feeling that urge from within me.' He had a dream. 'Go immediately to Brindavan and serve Nannagaru'. We don't even know that boy. He came here a month before Radhashtami and worked for 24 hours a day! He took care of all the arrangements because he was fluent in Hindi. The all pervading Mother came in his dream and gave the impulse to go to Brindavan. "

" Mother knows what is happening here. She knows what we want. How does She know what we want? Because She is always here! She is here because we are feeling Her presence. All are interlinked. If you are always with Mother, Mother will be with you. When Mother is with you; there will not be any problems for you. That is the simple logic. "

" Now the ground is prepared (for your sadhana.) No further talk! Now and here; that's all. The head priest of Banke Bihariji temple came to our ashram along with somebody. "I heard that a person came from Andhra Pradesh speaks about Radhaji. I came to see the saint who came all the way from Andhra and speaks about Radhaji in Brindavan." "

Nanna discussed about some salient points mentioned in the Padma Purana.

' Viharamyanaya nityamasyah premavaseekrutah

Imamthu matpriyam viddhim Radhikam Paradevatham'

" Lord Krishna showed his two shouldered form to Lord Shiva on the banks of Yamuna in Brindavan and said: 'I am always with Her, under the spell of Her love. My Para Deity, the manifestation of divine blissful love is none other than Radha'. When Shiva asked how he could attain Krishna, he replied 'when you surrender to both of us with gopi bhava, only then you can attain me'. 'Though you surrender to me but do not surrender to my deity of love, Sri Radha, I am unattainable. You can attain me even if, you don't surrender to me but surrender to Radhaji.' So Krishna clearly states that though you are his devotee but you keep Radhaji at a distance, you worship of him becomes a waste. We followed his words I have no Krishna here. He assured that if I worship Radha, he also will accompany Her. Now see who Radha is'. "

" Yearning is the third of the seven steps in Dhyana yoga. You will automatically go through all these steps in your dhyana. Just as you have stations in your train journey, you will get some unique qualities automatically in your spiritual journey. This yearning is most important and essential. Rukmini was weeping for Krishna in this yearning stage. Without his knowledge, without knowing the reason, the sadhaka will weep. Only through this weeping, his past karmas are dissolved. As he weeps, slowly his past karmas are lost. There is no other way to get rid of karmas. There are only two ways. Either you must suffer 'Karmanam bhogatho nasyeth' or you must weep for Radhaji. As you weep, all earthly attractions will fade. When you weep for God, your weeping for earthly things will disappear. Weeping for wife, children, money, name and fame must be transferred to Divine. When you reach Divine plane, you will not weep for earthly things. There is no weeping and there is no birth. When you weep for earthly things, you will take birth; when you weep for God, you would leave this world and go there. That's why weeping for God is your safeguard! "

" In this stage, Rukmini wept for Krishna day and night without food. She sent a letter through a brahmin to inform her state to him. We also will face that stage; somebody will come to us also. He is known as Rasika or Rasikacharya. Some Rasikacharya will come to us and by his presence, by his weeping, by his talks, we will be converted and will lose all attraction for worldly pleasures. "

" Unless we have the experience of divine bliss, we will not become detached from the worldly pleasures. There is no other way. This is the psychological way. You are attracted by worldly things; so you came down. Until you know how to weep for Bhagavan, you cannot leave this. That is the psychology. You will not find this weeping in any other spiritual path. That is rasika stage! People weeping for Radha are in a very high state. Mother will grant each one of you that state some day. We have seen many such instances in recent times. You will effortlessly move from the second stage of awareness to the third step of yearning. As the train moves, you will automatically, see the stations because they already exist. In the same way, as you move on, you will be getting these sufferings. With your weeping and suffering, your past sanskaras (dispositions from birth) are shed. That is the greatness of dhyana. Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and Chaitanya suffered in that way. Unearthly yearning for God! We must yearn for Radha! "

" When I had such experiences, I lost attachment towards worldly attractions. Mother also helps us constantly. When we plan to celebrate her function but don't have money, She sends the money to you. Surprising indeed! One day, a lady came to Guntur Ashram and gave one lakh rupees saying that her husband gave her that money to hand over in ashram just before his death. She simply gave the money and left without any receipt. Then the thought struck me that if I can develop a fund like this, I will be able to render Mother's services. My heart burns to serve Her. She only satisfies that intense flame. One thing must be maintained - the feeling that Mother is always with me. She will certainly grant you some experiences. With that experience your yearning and suffering will intensify and intimacy with Her is formed. Unless you attain the state of yearning for Divine, the earthly pleasures and attractions developed over the previous lives will not be destroyed. It will not happen with your decision. The Divine will create situations to make it happen! From that state, you will rise on your own; I need not tell you about it. "

" Divine Grace! Without that, you cannot move up on your own. Sadhana must come naturally and effortlessly. Then all the seven planes of sadhana will also come naturally. You will feel some changes within you. Now we have attachment with the masculine body. If we must lose this, we must get the opposite inside us. Mother physically came near me and asked 'Who are you?' to know whether inner change took place in me. You will attain the feminine counterpart within you. It is not physical feminine; it is spiritual feminine counterpart which has some distinct divine qualities and spiritual yearning. These changes will certainly come in you. "

" This bhava is illustrated in a story. A lady selling fruits gave fruits to Krishna and said 'I don't want any money from you. Sit in my lap and call me mother atleast one time'. He sat in her lap and said 'Mother'. Instantaneously hladini power, the power of intense bliss and ecstasy awakened in her; she threw the fruits aside and began to weep in ecstasy, literally rolling on the floor. That is the stage of yearning for the divine. Without reaching that state, you cannot give up yearning for earthly pleasures. There is no other way. That is the only way. "

" You must not have any expectations. You must simply bind to only one thing - feeling Mother's presence. That is known as awareness. Always remain in a state of awareness of the presence of the Divine. That is enough. It will take you through all the planes of dhyana. We can only sow the seed; it will become a plant on its own and bear flowers. You have no role there. A farmer sows the seeds and later only gives manure and water. The seed develops naturally from within. In your case, watering is continuously feeling Mother's presence. As you keep watering, the plant grows, gradually you also will ascend stage by stage. What is the manure here? Mother will grant you some wonderful experience; She will show some of Her leelas. She will supply everything; without any effort on our part. "

" When I was in a beggarly state also, I did not touch a single rupee for myself. I put all the money in the bank. She will arrange everything for us. Your need not ask anybody for anything. You will also attain divine powers and have divine vision. You will see visions and astral light. "

" During the function in Sri Lanka, my astral body went there. This was seen by three or four persons. Sri Kulapathi, who was physically present in Sri Lanka and the Sri Lankan spiritual leader also saw my astral body. "

" Yeaning for mother should be continuous. I weep about 10 times in a day unconsciously, without any effort on my part. It is not earthly weeping; it is yearning. Anjani amma had a vision in Ravali. I was a sakhi, with my female counterparts, applying sandalwood paste to Radhaji, weeping as I did so. Krishna is also there but he won't participate. He will be at a distance standing behind as a witness! "

" You have reached the evening part of your life. Therefore you must offer the rest of your life to the Divine, even your thoughts. You should not belong to yourself. Then your ego will unobtrusively vanish. Ten days back, I was sitting in an ordinary chair in Ravali. One girl came near me. 'Why are you sitting in such an uncomfortable chair? Please get a sofa type chair immediately.' She gave some money to me. Anybody becomes an instrument of Radhaji at different times. You must be soft because Mother is watching every minute and trying to reveal Her love for you. God (Krishna) weeping for Mother is a rare gift; the highest gift! "

" Four years back, a sakhi came to take me near Her. There is no question of life span. Mother is the determinator of how long I will live. Your life will automatically move into Her hands. The karma Gods are simply kicked away by Her. She is supreme. Don't forget. So when we have to go, it means that is Mother's will. When the sakhi came, I said 'I am ready. I don't want to remain here. I want to go near Mother.' Everybody started crying and pleaded with her not to take me right away because some jobs are yet to be completed. She disappeared. Mother only will decide when she will come again. You will become absolutely and thoroughly Mother's property. You will reach that stage one day. If you think you have so called independence, it is only due to your ego. When you surrender your ego and become Mother's property, you will automatically have these inner experiences. If you don't feel them, it means there is no progress in your dhyana. You will not find these details in any books. They all come from higher planes. Right from the beginning, you don't do any sadhana related to your karmas. The so called japa and tapa - they belong to karma jagath. We don't need them. Penance may be great, but bhava is higher than penance. "

During December 2001 - January 2002, Nanna gave a series of speeches on dhyana yoga. He felt the vibrations of the Gods who came down to listen about Sri Radha dhyana yoga. He said that Sri Radha Herself came down and blessed everybody with Her glance. What can the devotee at Radhasakhi's feet lack?

07.01.2002, Guntur Ashram

" Mother will watch you till eternity. Your family members will be present today and leave tomorrow. The world changes every minute, nothing is constant. In this ever changing world, there is one light shining constantly. That light is Mother! She never changes. She is constantly watching you. 'How is my child? Is he straying from the right path? Is his mind stable?' She looks after Her devotees each and every moment. "

" Vipranarayana was a great devotee of Lord Narayana, always weeping for God. Such a devotee was captured by maya to face his karma. A prostitute lured him and finally forced him to become a thief. Such is the power of maya. Sage Narada also could not stand before maya's powers. Do not forget this fact. We must not give up dhyana even for a single moment. If we stop dhyana, Mother will leave us. So remain in dhyana and think of Mother all the time. There is ecstasy in being in Her thoughts. Mother is nourishing us with such sweetness. She is concerned that we may not think about Her. That is why, She gives us such sweetness and joy that we yearn to think of Her! Mother is the sovereign of rasa; the manifestation of rasa! She is nurturing us with this rasa every moment. That is why, we are still alive. We must serve Her as She is nurturing us. "

" Mother nurtures Her devotees and the devotees serve Her. Both are important and essential. It is dangerous not to serve Her. Service can be done in many ways. The day we do not serve Her, we do not deserve to live anymore. Our body, mind, thoughts, intellect all belong only to Mother. Then should we not serve Her? We will move away from Her if we do not serve Her. If our heart beat stops for a few minutes, we will die. Our life is in our heart. She is the life force of our life. If we do not serve such a life force, it will leave. Mother is so close to us! "

" We cannot live even for a moment if we move away from Mother. When Gulab baba, a devotee in Brindavan could not serve Her, he wanted to die. He was weeping with sorrow that he was not able to serve Her with his music. When man weeps and yearns for some object at the time of his death, he takes the form of the object in his thoughts in the next birth. Jada Bharatha thought of a deer while dying and was born as a deer. 'Yad bhavo tad bhavathi'. We must be very careful at the time of death. We must think only of Mother while dying. She is kind and benevolent. If man does not think of Her in the last moment of your life, he will go to hell. No amount of penance can bring Her back. In the snakes and ladder game, you can go till the top but will slide back if you land into the snakes' mouth. Vipranarayana was another great devotee, who did immense penance. Towards the end, he became attracted towards a prostitute, lost his morals and had a steep spiritual fall. Finally only God could save him. We are moving in danger (of maya). This is our state. It is very difficult for everyone to reach her. People took the help of witchcraft to prevent Vivekananda and even Sankaracharya from reaching God. The divine showed his presence in the form of his devotee and protected Sankara. That is why we must not leave Mother at any stage of our life. That is only our greatest sadhana. That is the most important rule to follow in our life. Do not leave Mother. Don't succumb to maya. Contemplate only on Her. 'My life is linked with Mother each and every moment. She is protecting me all the time; nobody else looks after me like Her. Nobody in the world cares for me like Her. Mother, only You must protect me.' He who attains Mother's grace will lead a divine life. He will be linked with Her every moment and always be cautious of maya capturing him. "

" A pious wife looks after her husband all the time. When Gandhari came to know that she was married to a blind man, she decided to lead a similar life. So she blind folded her eyes throughout her life and lived in darkness like her husband. 'Gandhari, why are you leading such a life. I must live in darkness because I am born blind due to my karma'.'I am also forced to lead such a life due to my karma'. Even when her son was born, she did not remove her blindfold to see him because she did not want her maternal emotions to weaken her resolution. No wonder she is quoted as a living example of one pointed devotion towards her husband. "

" You will face situations that obstruct the path of your one pointed devotion. Be very careful. Do not leave Mother even for a single moment. Conduct your life in this way. Mother came. But it is very difficult to sense Her presence. She will come to us in the last minute of our life. We must be aware of Her presence otherwise maya will snatch us away from Her. She will put in all Her efforts to uplift human beings. She will strive to give him the knowledge of acknowledging Her presence. We can't even imagine how much She is struggling for us. She looks after the welfare of Her devotees each and every moment. "

" This is our sadhana in which we must link our self with Mother at every step. We must not forget Her even for a single moment. She is our life. She will not leave us; we must not leave Her. Both are interrelated. This is how a human being who attains Her grace would live. She will be pleased with such qualities in you. Then She will never leave you. Our life span is in Her hands only. Nobody else will control our life span. I am the witness for this fact. According to Astrology, my life span ended fifty years back. Yet with Mother's grace, I am still continuing Her works here. When some Gods told Mother that they would take me back near Her as I was here for a long time, She said that 'he has some works to complete on earth. Till then I cannot let him leave that place.' "

" I have two tasks to accomplish here. Everybody is given an opportunity to serve Her in some way or other. She will give them that responsibility. They must do it very sincerely. Japa and Tapa religious rituals are very small sadhanas. Vivekananda said that Mother's grace cannot be bought with japa and tapa just as you pay money and buy vegetables. You need Mother's grace. Even if you give up japa and tapa, it does not matter at all. 'I belong to Mother. She is mine. She is always with me. My life is linked with Her only. I will not do anything which is against Her will or which will displease Her.' We must maintain such a bhava all the time. This is very essential in our life. This is our surrender to Her. We must not give up our hold on Mother even for a split second. Our life is with Her only. Our identity and our happiness is Mother only. Do not forget this fact. We must completely surrender to Her. Mother, do not leave me even for a moment ... "

Nanna's speech was strange. He was speaking to us about dhyana and the very next sentence was addressed to Radhaji directly. Saying that we must not leave Mother; we must move along with Her, he remarked 'Mother has come.' Radhaji came to listen as Radhasakhi spoke about Sri Radha dhyana! Though Nanna mentioned about the incident where his life was prolonged many times in the past, it was different this time. The sakhis requested Mother to take him near Her but She said, She could not allow him to come till some jobs are completed. Maybe the sakhis were unable to stay away from their dear sakhi, our Nanna. We are indeed fortunate that She permitted him to spend some time with us!

Nanna stressed that we must surrender to Her. 'I do only what pleases Mother.' That is why, he took up activities for uplifting human beings. He was always immersed in Her thoughts only. Mother always resides in the heart of Her sakhi who surrenders to Her. We were able to see Nanna in this state of rasa.

Sri Radha bhava dhyana is sweet and filled with rasa. Stressing that it is invisible yet powerful, Nanna said it is difficult to grasp it. But once you are able to do bhava dhyana, you are very fortunate. Nanna is the rasa guru who granted us Radha bhava dhyana. We are indeed blessed!
