SRI RADHA DHYANA'S SWEETNESS

December 2000, Guntur Ashram

Nanna gave a series of lectures on Dhyana yoga every day in December 2000. This is one of those lectures.

" We must go beyond prakruthi and reach the higher world. Once you cross prakrithi, there is no difficulty. When you touch formlessness, you will be free from prakrithi and the problems associated with it. There is no disease or death in that plane! That is moksha. We are doing dhyana now. Even if someone as great as Vasishta is your guru and has given mantra to attain moksha; any mantra has words and sounds. Though you are doing Rama mantra, you are contemplating on sound! If you intensely concentrate on any of the five senses (sound, touch, sight, taste and smell), you will undoubtedly be born again in this prakrithi after death. Maharshi Bharata gave up his kingdom and family to do penance but could not give up thoughts about a small deer. He wept it for so much that he was reborn in this world! All his penance was wasted! If you think of any worldly object at the time of death, you are bound to be born in this world only. You cannot avoid the sufferings of the body here. Many people think that by taking mantra, one will reach the higher world. That is not right. Though the mantra is great, it is related to prakrithi (sound). Any form which you contemplate on relates to sound only. Therefore, you must be born again in this world. "

" The sages realized this fact and decided to do penance in silence; penance which is not associated with sound. The Vedas proclaimed 'Mounam tapas' (silence is penance). Sage Atri practiced highest penance of silence. He will not be born again in prakrithi again. There is no though about prakrithi in silence. He conquered prakrithi. That is why, Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva came to his house and the trinity stayed there as a little boy. 'Mounam Tapas Satyam Tapas' It is not easy for human beings to be silent. How to manage without words? Man wants words as well as form. It is difficult to live without both of them. That is our problem. The sages did penance which is not related to prakrithi. You too must to like that. Then prakrithi will not control you and you will not be born again in this world. You must do Japa which is free from the five senses. This is not possible because there is no such mantra! "

" The dhyana yoga which I am teaching you does not have any trace of prakrithi. I am not giving you mantra. The first step is awareness. Listen carefully. How do you begin? My Mother Radha Devi has pervaded all the worlds. She is filled in all the worlds. The Vedas stated that there is no power equal to Hers! There is no doubt about it. Radha's power is the highest. Krishna also worships Her power. 'Krishnena aradhyathethi Radha!. Krishna himself worships Her. That is why, She became Radha. He worships none other than Mother. Such is Her Infinite and Unlimited power. "

" She is present everywhere. No wonder She has no name or form. Nobody gave Her a formal name. She is Radha only because Krishna worships Her. The name Radha came from Aradhana(worship) .Sage Vasishta named Rama; Sage Garg name Krishna ceremonially. Nobody gave Radhaji a name. She attained Her name due to Her qualities and power - Bhagawati, Devi or Radha. "

" Why do we worship Radha? Firstly, She is not related to prakrithi. Her birthday festival is celebrated grandly every year in Ravali. She has no parents on earth. She descended on earth in a lotus in a pond in Ravali, fully adorned in the presence of so many people.' I am a little girl with no parents. I have no link with human beings and prakrithi. I am beyond prakrithi'. She is here this moment, in America the next and Australia the next moment! Where is She? What is her form? "

" Many people in Austin, America became Radha devotees. They constructed a unique temple for Radhaji in spalling area of 200 acres! They made Her idol with Italian marble and installed in the temple. They sprinkled the holy Ganges water (from kasi) from helicopters on the temple as Mother was worshipped inside. Such a little girl! Where is She present? Everywhere! She has filled the whole worlds. "

" Let me reveal an incident that happened in this room when I was writing the 3rd volume of Brindavaneswari Sri Radha Devi. It is a unique book, un paralleled on earth. I did penance for 8 years in Brindavan and wrote the book with quotations from the Vedas. I was sweating one summer afternoon while writing the book. Mother saw that Her son was suffering. She gave the inspiration to a wealthy man residing in Guntur. Unexpectedly he visited the temple and peeped into my room. 'You are suffering so much!' 'I can give up my life for Mother, this suffering is nothing. Even my life is not more valuable than Her'. Immediately She gave him the thought to convert this room into AC. He arranged an electrician and completed the work by night. Who spent the money? With whose inspiration was this room converted to AC? Mother's! The invisible Mother provides us everything. The Vedas said ' Radhnothi sakalan kaman' - Radha can do what nobody else can! "

" The Bhagawata narrates the incident when king Daksha insults Siva. Sati Devi created fire from her eyes and burnt herself. Lord Shiva declared that he would destroy all the 14 worlds if his wife was not brought back to life. Brahma and Vishnu were helpless. Krishna said that he must chant Radha mantra; Only She can help him. He prayed to Radhaji and She granted his wish. 'Radhnothi sakalan kaman tasmath Radhethi keerthitha' - She can accomplish anything. That is why She is Radha! She is the highest; even above Krishna. He worships Her constantly. The Vedas mention that Krishna belongs to Radha. She is nameless and formless. We must do dhyana on nameless and formless Mother. "

" Awareness! Though She is nameless and formless, my Mother is present here, near me. She is looking after me. She inspired a stranger to spend money and convert this room into AC. She is not prakrithi. One who contemplates on Her and does dhyana remains in silence. When he has the bhava that 'I do not who Mother is! She is invisible. She is near me, protecting me, prakrithi has no effect on him. Gradually the nuance of prakrithi will fade at the time of his death. The first stage in dhyana is the bhava that 'Mother is with me. She is protecting me. She is never away from me. "

" The second stage is effortless awareness. Right now, we are making an effort to retain awareness. Without any effort, you must contemplate on Her, day and night. 'Mother, I have nobody else except You'. You will slowly get used to it, effortlessly. Like a smoker dedicated to tobacco effortlessly lighting the next cigarette! We will also effortlessly develop the bhava 'Mother, Mother!' "

" The third stage is Yearning. I am speaking from my experience. Ramakrishna Paramhamsa said that any jeeva, any sadhaka can never see God unless he reaches the state of yearning. If you want God, you must yearn for him. Rukmini Devi exemplifies the state of yearning. When her brother refused to celebrate her wedding with Krishna and finalized with Sasipala, She was not happly. Day and night She wept 'Krishna, my brother decided to marry me to a demon. I will consume poison and die if you do not come and take me away from here.' She went against kshtrya priniciples of high class woman, wrote a letter to Krishna and sent it through a Brahmin. 'Krishna, If you don't marry me, I have no option but to die. In this life and next also, I belong to you only. You are benevolent. I will look out for your chariot, I will boldly come near you, otherwise, I shall die' You also must attain that state. That is the third stage in Dhayana-Yearning for Radhaji. 'Without my Mother, I cannot live. I have all the wealth of this world but I want Mother'. "

" There is no other sadhana like this dhyana yoga elsewhere in this world. It is unique! We are blessed with virtues of previous lives. You feel like ending life for Her. Ramakrishna Paramahamsa was ready to kill himself with a sword. Mother held the sword and said 'My son, why do you weep? Where am I? I am near you only, invisible to you'. We also are in the same state. Mother is near us. She is listening to what I am teaching you. She is watching from within .. It is a realistic thing. You will face downfall if you give up silence. The mantras have evolved to appease the inner self. They are used to curse or destroy the enemy. "

" We are not interested in such mantras. Even ' Om Ramaya namah Krishnaya namah' is also not useful to us because they are related to prakrithi. We can never move higher with them. Our state should be above them. Continuous silence! You remember, forget, again remember . gradually you will attain silence where in you will not forget Her. Mother, Mother everywhere. We cannot live without Her. I want only Mother. All our concentration is towards Mother only. You will attain that state when you cannot stay away from Her even for a split second. It is an unbearable sorrow. Silence! Slowly, effortlessly you will move towards Rukmini dham. You will start weeping. 'If you do not come near me, I will die. I will not marry. I don't want this trivial world. I will come near you.' You will develop aversion for the world. I passed that stage. I have nobody today. Neither do I need my family nor do they need me! Why did sages go to Naimisa forest for penance? They wanted to be in peace, in solitude. You must reach that tranquil state. "

" Jesus Christ climbed a hill top to do penance. 'Pray in secret' He was all alone, silently and secretly weeping! Vivekananda visited Jerusalem, the birth place of Jesus Christ and enquired about his penance. He always maintained silence. Weeping alone. ' I don't care about the world. I don't bother about their insults.' He was not ashamed when people insulted him and spat on him. His only goal was to reach his mother. 'Water! For you! Never.' Even in that state, he wept and prayed for them. 'O my Father! Forgive them for they know not what they do .. they are not aware that I am you son' we too will pass through these stages, one by one. "

" Practice silence without a moment's gap 'Mother is watching me. I am speaking in Her presence. See Mother with one eye and do silence with another eye. See Mother with one eye and your job with the other. You need not give up your job or any other work. Be in the world and do your job without leaving Mother. Do everything in Her presence. "

" After you all leave, I remain in silence near Her. Silence means being in Her presence. I shut the door after you leave and remain near Mother. I pretend to be asleep, so nobody will disturb me. I can remain near Her. "

" Be in silence in the thought that 'Mother is with me.' There is no other penance. Other religious practices may bring you down. A sanyasi served his guru for a long time, yet could not overcome his sense of lust. His guru said ' I saw your mind. I will not eat anything served by you. Don't enter my ashram.' That disciple ended his life. This path is not easy. Maya can be dispelled by Mother only. Krishna agreed that there is no other power except Radha who can free you from maya. Brahma and Shiva; Saubhari and Vishwamitra lost to maya. Nobody could conquer maya. Mother could! When Krishna hesitantly approached Her, She won over maya. If She instructs with Her left hand, maya cannot come near. maya has such powers but Radha is the manifestation of the power of Para, which can make many upside down! We are fortunate to obtain Mother's service. This is the result of virtues of our previous births. "

" Our mind is skeptical. We don't believe anybody. The mind rushes towards the bad, not good. It is difficult to climb a pole but easy to throw down a boulder! It is easy to descend, but difficult to ascend. That is law of nature. We are fortunate to get such an opportunity to serve Her. Be in silence here as well as at home. Silence means Mother. In silence, you must think ' Mother, I came near you. You are in silence. I am lucky. Don't ever leave me. I don't want anything except you' Radhe Govinda, Hare Krishna! "

After sometime, Nanna once again explained four of the seven steps of Dhyana yoga.

" Awareness is the first of the seven steps. Mother is here. The rasa sakthi of that world is here also but invisible. We don't experience it. We can feel the power is present but in no way linked with it. The Vedas said 'Sarvam bhaktidwam Brahma' Brahman(bliss) is everywhere. Yet some are crying; some are criminals; some are arrogant; some have inner radiance yet cannot see Her. If it is blissful everywhere, then why do people commit suicide. It is very difficult to obtain bliss. The world is filled with rasa. Rasa is the highest aspect of happiness. "

" Everybody must attain that rasa; That Rasa leela but it is not easy. Radhaji is the sovereign of the rasa kingdom. She is Raseswari. Nobody can reach Her kingdom without Her grace. She is nameless and formless. How to do dhyana on the nameless and formless Mother? We are used to name and form right from our birth. You cannot enter the rasa world unless you go beyond name and form. Our path should be without name and form. Very difficult. But there is no other way. As you get used to it, the path becomes easy to tread, even if formless and nameless. That path is silence. Sage Atri practiced such silence. The divine trinity (Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva) came down in the form of a little child due to the power of his silence. "

" Once you obtain silence, don't go back again. In silence, the nameless and formless object will be as clear to you as a tangible object near you. I experience this. We can tell that Mother came near us. "

" We must begin dhyana with silence and practice day and night to remain in Mother's thought. "

" I gave the example of the train going to Delhi. Your duty is to sit in the train; it will take you forward. Similarly, your duty is to be in silence, the highest power! Silence will take care of the rest. You will realize as you practice. The maharishis experienced the ascent of all the steps, no there is no room for any doubts. I reached those heights which is possible for a human being to rise. This is the truth. Your duty is to sit in the train. It is now the train's duty to take you to your destination. You don't need to move, the train will. You must just sit still! "

" Earlier, sages would go into the forest and caves and sit for penance. Even Badari Narayana followed this path only. We must learn about dhyana from him. No wonder people will prompt you to go to Badari to do dhyana. If you go there, you don't see anything. He will neither speak nor move. He is today exactly how he was hundred years ago; four hundred years ago! So what you must understand in Badari? You must understand three steps. First, you must take up this journey alone. Before he left of dhyana, Narayana told his consort Lakshmi 'There cannot be anybody else between my highest goal and me. So please leave (from my heart). She left and took the form of berry shrubs and surrounded him. Since then, Lakshmi Narayana came to be known as Badari Narayana. So, the first principle is that when you shut your eyes and sit in dhyana, you must not think of anybody else except your deity. You came alone to this world and you are facing your problems on your own. "

" Yesterday, a wealthy woman came to me weeping for his daughter. 'She has two children. Her husband deserted the family and left. She is all alone without any support. That is why, I am weeping for her' 'Don't worry. She is like my daughter. Send her to me. She can live happily in our ashram. We will take care of her' If you follow Mother's path of rasa for one week, you will forget all your problems. That is the wonder! You will feel at rest, at peace with yourself. She went to bring her daughter to stay with us for some time. "

" Tranquility and Peace! By doing dhyana for a week or 10 days, you will experience tremendous peace. Gradually you will face stages of severe unrest. Yet, do not leave your path. Don't give up your silence. 'Mother is with me only all the time.' Mother is none other than the Raseswari Supreme Sovereign of the rasa world. Lord Narayana asked Lakshmi to leave from his heart only to reach Raseswari. Lakshmi and Parvati are lesser Goddesses, smaller sakhis. Raseswari is the highest. Those who enter the Rasa world are indeed blessed! Only a very few can attain that state. That is why I am stressing and repeating that you must be in the world and remain in silence. Never forget the principle that 'Mother is with me' and remain in Her presence all the time. That is enough. "

" Don't get down this step; don't get down the train till you reach the destination. Silence will take you towards your goal. That is the strangeness! Earlier sages practiced 'Om'. Now, even that state is surpassed. 'Om' is considered to be a very initial step. Practice silence; silence in which there are no thoughts. Don't think about anybody. Imagine the world to be vacuum. Only Mother is present. Think in your mind that Mother is with you. That is all. Within few days, you will realize how great this silence is; how much peace it provides you; how much rasa it gives you! Your only plus point is not giving up silence. Don't be impatient that you did not reach your destination. It will not happen in a day. Be patient and remain still Don't move. Don't give up silence. "

" Sometimes you may say that you thought something thirty years ago. Who heard you thirty years back? You are the only witness. We ourselves don't know what we thought so many years ago. This is known as inner consciousness which is with us all 24 hours of the day, watching us. Therefore, the inner consciousness is Mother's shadow. Remain in the awareness that 'Mother is within me, watching me passively' maintain this awareness. Mother is here this moment, listening to my lecture. She watches every small thing about me. She who watches me is Mother! Mine is inner consciousness. So don't think that I am not listening. She listens to everything. When you are in office, She is watching you there. There is nothing that misses her sight. Chitragupta is believed to give witness in the upper worlds. Chitragupta literally means secret pictures. Everything is automatically taped within us in a secret manner. This is God's arrangement. He knows everything. Our goal should focus on Her, within us. Maintain the awareness continuously that 'Mother is watching me and listening to me. I am speaking in Her presence. She is listening to my lecture'. Slowly, as you practice like this, without your knowledge, you will go to that inner consciousness. Whether you make a sound or whether you are silent, Mother is listening to you or watching you. This awareness must be maintained continuously. This is the secret of dhyana yoga. You will be become habituated after some time. The awareness that 'Mother is within me; watching me' will become a habit. "

" You must understand that there are two kinds of consciousness in you - external and inner. You are constantly watching both of them. This is the important point. You must be aware that whatever work you do is being observed and seen simultaneously by Mother who is within you. Gradually, this awareness will become a continuity. This is the second step in dhyana yoga - Effortless Awareness! We are forgetting about Mother's presence if we don't put in effort. We must realize that there is something within us, working actively. That is Mother! When this awareness is maintained continuously, it is effortless awareness. If you are able to maintain this awareness, you will ascend to the third step. Yearning! You will feel like weeping involuntarily. ' I came here from somewhere, long long ago; I must go back near Mother. Everybody in this world is a stranger. This is not my world, not my home. These are not my people'. - This awareness will come from within you. You need not wish for it; it is already inborn within you. Man is not what he appears externally; he is the one within! As you will delve deep inside you and the yearning will increase. ' 'I want Mother' 'I must see Mother' You will feel like weeping from within you .your inner consciousness is weeping. 'Mother, I came so far away from you. It is so long since I saw you' you will feel this inner yearning. That is necessary. Chaitanya's weeping is only the expression of his inner sorrow of being away from Mother; yearning for oneness with Her! He was always in this state of weeping. "

" Ramakrishna often said that a devotee who does not have such yearning can never see God. There will be no link between God and him. Your true yearning is only within you. Your external desires (towards worldly objects) are useless. They are present today and fade away tomorrow. Your yearning must be to reach Mother. We belong to Her. We are Her children. We came from Her kingdom. The people in this world are strangers. That is why I forget them many times. I generally ask whether I know the person or met him before because I don't remember him. Infact, I don't even know the day or time! I ask somebody and they inform me. I am not even conscious about time. The yearning is so deep! You will lose track of time, relatives, associates and even the world as you move closer to Mother within you. This yearning finds a way out through weeping. "

" Then you will attain Divine Grace. 'He is forgetting everything; he is not remembering outside world; He is weeping for Me. I shall take him near Me'. She will grant Her grace. Divine grace cannot be attained without deep yearning. Divine grace has six qualities. You can check these points to understand that you have been bestowed divine grace. Firstly, you will feel that you have no link with the external world. This will come automatically. Secondly, you will weep without any reason. One devotee bought a color TV and an expensive care to live luxuriously. When she reached the stage of divine grace, she felt she does not need anything. she gave away the TV to someone. You will actually feel that these are somebody else's objects. They don't belong to you. They will not give you any pleasure. This is why people retreat into Naimisa forest or Hrishikesh to do penance. They are not fools. Many kings gave up their kingdom within seconds! "

" Jada Bharata was a great emperor. When he got the call from within, he gave up everything and left .. (Nanna was weeping) One morning, a little girl appeared in this room at 4 a.m. and asked 'When will you come near Me' when will you serve Me?' .. Mother actually came near me! You will get the bhava that Mother is calling you near Her. She will grant that bhava. I got that bhava. 'I must not stay here any longer. This is not my home. This job is not mine.'I simply quit the lucrative job as DEO, which is so difficult to get. I felt it was nothing. I took a paper that very moment and wrote ' I resign from the job; kindly detain me on proportionate pension' Everbody felt very bad that I was leaving the job because I was liked by them as an efficient and considerate officer. Infact, they took a group photograph as my remembrance. "

" I left the house and went to railway station to move according to Her will. I had no money with me. I worked honestly. I never took a bribe in my life. I had 8 members depending on me. Who would be so foolish like me to leave such a good job when you had people depending on you but no savings in the bank? None! "

" When Buddha reached this state, he left his wife, small son and parents. 'I don't want this kingdom. I am the only son. This kingdom is mine. I have a lonely wife but I don't want any of these'. He jumped over the wall and left the palace like a thief. "

The cassette ended here. Nanna experienced and explained divine grace which is attained after the stages of awareness, effortless awareness and yearning. He cautioned that God made an arrangement to secretly tape every act of ours within us. Mother is in our inner consciousness; watching everything. Only with divine grace, we will have the bhava that except Mother, nothing belongs to me. Nanna added 'Mother gave me that bhava' He received her call and gave up everything. Our Rasa guru, Nanna, gave up his job and engaged in the welfare activities of human beings. Time and again he proved that he is indeed the confidential sakhi of Radhaji!
